Stay On Beat to Get Updates on the Practice Journal!
Hi, I’m Brittany Trinh! I founded Music Pocket Coach to help musicians rediscover their joy for music and lead a rich musical life. My music practice journal helps people find time to play, and explore all over again why they love music.
I’ve been a musician all my life. I started playing piano when I was 5 and violin since I was 10. I’ve played in an orchestra for over 15 years. When I was younger, I had teachers to support me and create structure for practicing music.
As I got older, I gravitated towards interests in chemistry and website design. I had less opportunity to play. During college, I missed playing and started a non-music major orchestra that grew to over 300 people. At the end of my time there, I remember people thanking me and being so grateful we had created this community. They had a passion for playing classical music with others, just like me.
For most of us as adults, music becomes a hobby. We don’t establish a framework provided by a teacher to practice with consistency. For me, I would forget what I played, how much I played and how much progress I made on a piece.
I had the idea to create a music practice journal. Here, I create a record of my musical experiences. I can develop a structure for practicing music without a teacher and remind myself why and what I want to play. With it, I can build towards a richer musical life.
I hope that this journal will help people all over the world rekindle their passion for playing. Let’s build a community rediscovering their joy for music.
Try out the PDF version of Music Pocket Coach!
You can use the PDF version on your tablet or print it out.
If you're a Notion fan, then try out the Notion version of Music Pocket Coach!
The Notion version can help you organize your thoughts during your practice, track your practice sessions by piece, and sort by composer.
After purchasing, you'll receive a link to the Notion page, which you can duplicate to your own Notion.
Once you've used either the PDF or Notion version of Music Pocket Coach for at least 5 practice sessions for 1 piece (does not need to be consecutive days), we'd love to hear your thoughts! Your responses will help us understand the struggles that other amateur musicians face. This information can be used to improve MPC's overall design and functionality.
We're working on creating a physical Practice Journal for Music Pocket Coach. The journal will have similar prompts as seen in the Notion template and accommodate at least 364 practice session entries. It will either be a paperback or coil-bound journal, at least 6"x9" in size.
Let’s support and encourage each other to have fun making music!
